Sign the petition: Stop the Jamaica 50 deportations now
This afternoon, Rita Holborne has provided another update ahead of the scheduled deportation of as many as 50 Jamaican nationals from the UK next Wednesday. This includes individuals who arrived in the UK as minors.
The deportation not only comes as a U-turn from previous government assurances not to deport individuals who came to the UK before the age of 12, but is further evidence of an ongoing hostile environment policy which continues to see individuals from African, Caribbean and South East Asian backgrounds unfairly targeted.
Reports that have emerged from Sinai Fleary and The Voice evidence the profound mental health impact in which the threat of deportation is taking on the Jamaican nationals. Families have been parted as detention centres have seen parents denied access to their children, all while the threat of a resumption to charter flights to Zimbabwe and the prospect of 'summer of deportations' to Jamaica and Vietnam loom large.
The update includes a petition as well as templated letters designed to lobby your local MP and TUI. Please join the call to halt the deportation of the 'Jamaica 50' nationals today.
