Press Release: Rev. Jackson flies in to support OBV's Black leadership programme
OBV's leadership event will bring together BME politicians, church pastors and other faith leaders, business entrepeneurs and activists in the community.
The event will take place at 6pm - 8pm Saturday 9th June 2007 . Venue: TBC
OBV's Chair Lee Jasper and Director Simon Woolley met Rev. Jackson in Chicago at his Rainbow Push conference which has been attended by ex-president Bill Clinton, and presidential candidate Barak Obama.
Rev Jackson stated: 'The continual fight for social and racial justice needs an army of able leaders. I support the work of OBV and the introduction of Rainbow Push in the UK'.
OBV Chair Lee Jasper stated: 'This man has the energy of a 25 year old. Throughout my life his wisdom and efforts have inspired me, as I'm sure they will for another generation of leaders we at OBV seek to nurture. I'm particularly pleased he has chosen to come to Brixton, for many the spiritual capital of Black Britain'.
Lambeth Chief Executive: Derrick Anderson stated: Lambeth Council supports OBV's leadership and empowerment programmes in the borough. This authority works best when all communities are engaged and positively active within it. It is also a great honour to host Rev. Jesse Jackson in Brixton.
Please note capacity is now full for this event.
