Press Release: OBV high flyer could become the first Black Tory female MP
Beating off high profile candidates such as Iain Dale, Helen Grant showed the Tory faithful she will represent them and the wider party with credit. Tory Bloggers are already tipping her to become the first Black Tory leader.
Helen is the owner of Grant Solicitors a specialist firm focused on dealing with the problems of family breakdown in London, Surrey and Kent. Helen joined the scheme after Shadow Minister Dominic Grieve recommended her as a woman of immense talent.
OBV's Simon Woolley stated: We are absolutely delighted for Helen. She didn't really need much support from OBV, but we were there if she did. I'm convinced that with her drive and commitment she will inspire other women, particularly Black women, that they can be positive agents for change.
On her success Ms Grant stated: I will strive to maintain the integrity that she - Ann Widdecombe - has given to the role of a parliamentarian and as MP of Maidstone.
Helen was paired with Oliver Letwin, and also supported by David Davis as a participant in our 2006 MP Shadowing Scheme. Helen is an approved candidate on David Cameron's A list.
Helen is the sixth OBV participant to be selected to fight a seat at a General election.
