The BBC Wants You! Two leadership schemes
The BBC is actively seeking talented individuals from Black and minority ethnic(BME) communities for two leadership schemes.
These are great opportunities and we urge you to act quickly and apply before the 19th Oct deadline.
The first, the Senior Leadership Development Programme, is a twelve-month training scheme where successful candidates will take part in BBC College of Leadership courses and other leadership training. Additionally, they will be matched individually with one of the BBC’s board members to further develop their skills and influence the organization. It is open to both current BBC employees and external candidates.
According to the BBC website, the ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience leading projects or teams. They will be creative and collaborative, and able to use these talents to drive a project forward.
This programme is part of the BBC’s commitment to support the development of people from BAME backgrounds and to encourage their participation in the senior leadership of the broadcast industry,”
states the website.
The second scheme, the Television Assistant Commissioner Training Opportunity, is a twelve-month scheme for media professionals to deepen their understanding of the commissioning process and acquire the skills and experience necessary to carry it out. Successful candidates will undergo industry-standard training from BBC experts, master classes, and a two-week intensive boot camp. Placements are available in daytime, entertainment, comedy, factual, and children’s programming, and across BBC Two and BBC Four.
The ideal candidate will have experience in television in addition to a real passion for the medium and for broadcasting. They will also demonstrate leadership ability, good editorial judgment, and an understanding of modern audiences and challenges facing the broadcast industry today.
BBC director-general Tony Hall said about the schemes, “I want the BBC to be the first choice for talented people, whatever their background. The launch of these two leadership programmes is an important step toward a more open broadcast industry.”
Good luck!
Applications are open until October 19. The first scheme begins in January 2015, and the second in February. For more information, visit www.bbc.co.uk/careers
