Bristol Mayoral Hustings meeting 5th April
Bristol, a wonderful city to live in. A place that is so rich in history, but inequalities stemming back from the dark days of slavery, still sadily persist.
According to Centre of Dynamics, out of 348 districts, research shows that Bristol is the 2nd worst place to be in African and Caribbean, and 11th worst place to be of mixed heritage. Being Asian too doesn’t fair much better. These and other issues such as the lack of social mobility will no doubt be discussed for the forth coming Mayoral Hustings to take place next week.
BSWN (Black South West Network) and with the help of Up Our Streets volunteers, are presenting an historical hustings meeting to encourage this discussion .
Operation Black Vote seeks to promote this historic eBristol’s Mayoral Question Time on Race Equality. With it now being a month before Bristol votes for a new mayor, we are pleased to announce this debate that will take place Tuesday April 5th. This is your chance to question how the mayoral candidates will tackle inequality issues that BME communities face to help you decide who gets your vote. The audience too, has the chance to get their questions answered on a variety of topics that matter.
This will be broadcasted event hosted by Pat Hart, BCfm, the panel includes: George Ferguson–Bristol 1st, Marvin Rees–Labour, Kay Barnard–Liberal Democrats, Tony Dyer–Greens, Paul Turner–UKIP, Paul Saville–Independent, John Langley–Independent and Christine Townsend–Independents for Bristol. The event is on Tuesday, April 5th from 19:30 to 22:30. The event will be held at The City Academy Bristol - Russell Town Avenue, Redfield BS5 9JH, United Kingdom. Tickets are free.
