Desmond Jadoo Independent candidate: A man on a mission
Political and community activist Desmond Jadoo makes an appeal to the people of Birmingham to vote for him. Here’s his pitch:
Clearly, there is a need for change in our City and our Local communities which are becoming increasingly divided for various reasons including wealth, health, employment, and age despite the fact that we should be “ One Community”.
A main concern that I have picked up on, is many people are asking why are our Councillors explaining the CUTS to us and not fighting them. We hear about stand up for Birmingham, but, who is really rallying the troops? Is a real effort being made or is it just the stereotypical window dressing.
I believe that its time for us to restore the connection between the people of Birmingham and Local Government, which appears at times to be only for the elite of closed shops, overcrowded by Political parties that place their policies first and the people of Birmingham second, especially when its comes to transparency and accountability.
As such, I hereby formally announce and declare my intention stand for election as a City Councillor in the Ladywood Ward of Birmingham as an Independent Candidate for the people of Ladywood and no political party.
“People First Not Party” Ladywood is a ward that suffers from mass disaffection, with turnout in the last local elections in 2012, as mere 16.5%.
In addition to this, it is a clear tale of two cities with the extreme wealth of the City Centre, The Jewellery Quarter and the Broad street development and then the areas of mass depravation in Ladywood and parts of the Edgbaston/Wins on Green Border and Lee Bank.
The figures speak for themselves as Ladywood ward is one the poorest parts of the Country.
It is “Time for Change” in Birmingham and indeed in Politics and I see this as an opportunity for me to offer myself to serve the people of Ladywood and not any Political Party.
Time for Change
