Detective Dawn Butler's GPS investigation
Former MP Dawn Butler turned quick thinking detective when her handbag was stolen in a London Hotel last week. Instead of panicking at the thought of losing valued possessions, she raced to a computer to track her iPhone using GPS.
In an exclusive interview with The Voice newspaper, Butler told their reporter:
“Having logged on I couldn’t believe it. I could see how slowly the signal was moving so whoever had snatched my bag was on foot. I knew I could catch them up and I was determined to."
Butler phoned the police, who she argues were at first reluctant to believe she was tracking her thieves as she was speaking to them. Eventually they took her seriously and aided her to catch the two criminals.
Ms Butler was relieved to get her bag, phone and other valuable items back. No doubt the multi-national company Apple, the makers of iPhone, will be delighted with the outcome of Butlers episode, and that their 'Find your iPhone' service came to her aide.
But for those of us who know Dawn Butler we are not be too surprised by her either by her determination to get things done and her strong sense of justice.
Well done Dawn!
