The EU Referendum: 23rd June: Time to vote !
This is perhaps the most important vote for our generation. The EU referendum vote will dictate whether or not the UK turns it's back on the European Union or stays in it to reform it. Operation Black Vote is seeking the largest BME voter turnout ever seen in the UK.
Of course there are general considerations that we must weigh up over the next few days including: immigration, prosperity and accountability. But there are also some specific considerations that are particular to Black and minority ethnic communities.
They include:
Will Brexit give rise to further racism and division in the UK as Baroness Warsi suggested?
Can Britain and the EU stop the rise of growing fascism across Europe, and who will protect the 20 million Black people living in mainland Europe?
Where will race equality be best protected, in our out?
What future are we bequeathing our children?
These are all momentous questions that force us to ultimately ask what type of Britain and wider world do we want to live in?
On Thursday we implore you to do three things: To vote; tell your family and friends to vote; and take your children to vote with you.
Tell them ‘Simon says’.
