Fela! travels to Nigeria
A musical about the life of Nigerian Afrobeat founder Fela Anikulapo Kuti is to be staged in his homeland.
The musical - whose executive producers include rapper Jay-Z, and actors Will and Jada Pinkett Smith - has already performed on Broadway and in London's Southbank.
The Musical 'Fela!' explores the musician's life over two hours of extravagant song and dance routines.
Fela Kuti, a multi instrumentalist was a maverick and held forthright political views, including being an early Pan-Africanist and strong supporter of human rights. Tragically, Fela who had like many music superstars a penchant for drugs and groupies died of AIDS at 58.
In Nigeria he is still feted for his politics, and music.
