Get involved with the Commonwealth Youth Parliament
Ever fancied sitting in the House of Lords Red benches and getting a free tour of Parliament? Then read on.
An exciting new opportunity has been announced for young people to take part in the Fourth Commonwealth Youth Parliament (CYP) at Westminster on September 9.
Young people aged between 18-29 years old who have links with Commonwealth country are being encouraged to take part in the event which gives an insight into the inner workings of Parliament whilst getting an opportunity to meet young people from across the world and taking part in the debate on climate change in the House of Lords chamber as well as representing their country.
The CYP will be attended by over 80 young people from Commonwealth Countries and is organised by the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) as well as the Houses of Parliament Outreach Services, who deliver free training about the work of Parliament and how people can get involved.
Prior to the conference, attendees will meet to learn about Parliament and the Commonwealth and the CYP, what it is and how it will work.
This will give them the opportunity to make new friends and talk about ideas for the role and what they hope to gain from it. Attendees will also get information about the topic for debate and be able to research them prior to the CYP.
Those lucky to be chosen to attend the CYP will meet new people and exchange ideas on issues which they are interested in, discuss involvement in politics and be able to make long term links with young people across the Commonwealth. Anyone interested in finding out more about CYP as taking part in the event on September 9 should click here.
