Happy Birthday OBV
The Prime Minister David Cameron along with Deputy Prime Minster Nick Clegg and Labour leader Ed Miliband have sent personal well wishes on OBV’s 15th anniversary.
The Prime Minister stated,
I am delighted to be sending a message of support to OBV on the occasion of your 15th Anniversary. The work of OBV is a striking success in meeting the challenge of the Big society, by putting more power and opportunities in peoples hands….The MP shadowing scheme is one of a number of successful programmes run by OBV since it came into being. …I am delighted to share the floor of the House of Commons with Helen Grant MP and alumni of the scheme who is now the Conservative Party’s first female African Caribbean MP
I wish OBV every continued success.
Deputy Prime Minster and Leader of the Lib Dems Nick Clegg stated,
Operation Black Vote has worked incredibly hard to ensure ethnic minority communities are represented and listened to, and I want to pass on my warm congratulations on its 15th Anniversary.
Labour leader Ed Miliband stated,
I’ve seen the work of OBV does first hand having had the privilege to take part in the mentoring scheme last year. I know that thousands of people have benefited from the scheme and the many other schemes and events OBV have organised. …The work OBV does is really important in helping to tackle the issue of promoting engagement with politics for people from minority communities. I’d like to congratulate OBV on its 15th birthday and wish them all the best for the next 15th years.
