José Gutiérrez: new deportee mistreatment case
A second investigation was launched this month into allegations of the mistreatment of a Columbian asylum seeker by G4S security guards.
The investigation follows the death of 46-year-old, Angolan refugee Jimmy Mubenga, just weeks ago. Mr Mubenga collapsed and died during a deportation at Heathrow airport, handled by G4S security guards.
José Gutiérrez, 37, claims mistreatment by G4S a few days before that of Jimmy Mubenga. His partner, Teresa Ramsey contacted the Guardian newspaper after reading about Mubenga's death.
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) is investing the claims against G4S from the refused asylum seeker who needed hospital attention for injuries after the guards escorted him onto a British Airways flight. He was subsequently removed from the plane before take-off.
The Guardian reports that they have seen his NHS medical notes which show that he was admitted to Hillingdon hospital's accident and emergency department in the early hours of 7 October with swollen and tender wrists and a soft tissue injury.
