London’s Mayoral race hotting up: Khan tops poll
Just a few weeks ago, we predicted that the race to become the next London Mayor had a long way to go. In particular the fight to become the Labour candidate was already hotting up.
The last poll we highlighted surprised many when Diane Abbott PM surpassed her rivals by leading the pack. The unpredictability of these early polls continues with a recent YouGov poll for London Evening standard saw Sadiq Khan MP narrowly edge ahead of Tessa Jowell and Diane Abbott.
Rumours are abound that if the present Mayor Boris Johnson doesn’t stand then the Apprentice Judge Karen Brady will be the Conservative candidate.
Leading one of the most powerful cities in the world is an attractive job for any politician. Furthermore, given that London is arguably the most multicultural city on the planet many people are now saying what better way to express our cultural dynamism by having a leader who is either a female or from a Black and minority ethnic community, or both.
