Obama has landed
President Barack Obama landed in Ireland today with the First Lady Michelle Obama to start a 6 day tour of Europe. President Obama will arrive in London on Tuesday for meetings with Prime Minister David Cameron.
As part of the Irish leg of his visit President Obama will travel to Moneygall the town in central Ireland which his ancestors originated. In the afternoon the President and First Lady will return to Dublin where it is expected he will deliver remarks at a public event about the ties between the Unites States and Ireland. The President and the First Lady will spend the night in Dublin, Ireland before heading to London on Tuesday morning.
During the English leg of his visit he will be treated to a ceremony at Buckingham Palace, the President and the First Lady will then have lunch with Her Majesty the Queen and the two U.S. and U.K. delegations. In the afternoon, the President will visit Westminster Abbey. In the evening, the President and the First Lady will attend a dinner at Buckingham Palace hosted by Her Majesty the Queen. The President and the First Lady will spend the night in London, England.
His final day in London will be spent holding meetings with British Prime Minister David Cameron where it is expected that the formation of a joint new intelligence council will be discussed in addition to the war in Afghanistan and the global economy. This will followed by an event hosted by Mrs Cameron and the First Lady to honour military families of U.S. and U.K. service members and veterans. The President and Prime Minister will hold a joint press conference preceding the President’s speech to both Houses of Parliament. After a dinner hosted at the residence of the American ambassador in London in honour of the Queen the Obama’s will spend the night in London before jetting off to France for G8 meetings.
