OBV graduate Abi Olumbori to stand in Braintree council by-election
As Cllr Stephen Sandbook for Braintree South stepped down last month after moving out of the district, Braintree Council has announced the candidates for Thursday's by-election. OBV would like to congratulate Conservative candidate Abi Olumbori.
Abi took part in the OBV Parliamentary Shadowing Scheme and will be graduating this week and we are pleased to see her getting closer to achieve a great political career.
Abi has always set high goals for herself and she was very keen to participate in Shadowing Scheme, stressing its importance as a much-needed platform to achieve greater things.
She said,
“The Scheme opens the door to someone like me: black, a women and migrate in this country. I hope to achieve a great political career and probably be the first Black female Mayor of London.”
Abi came to OBV with a desire and the Scheme gave her confidence to start the journey on her own. Previously, she was one of the councillors on Braintree District Council; she has expertise and right attitude to make a great councillor.
Simon Woolley, Director of OBV said:
“The journey via OBV's political mentoring programme from wanting to make a difference to standing as party political candidate is truly remarkable. Abi has shown courage, a willingness to learn and a desire to positively change the world around her. If she is elected she'll make a fine public representative.”
