An open letter to Lambeth Labour Councillors
Dear Lambeth Labour Councillors
As many of you are aware, there has been a great deal of concern about local Party procedure after the democratic election of Adeline Aina to fight the Larkhall ward.
Local party bosses want to question Adeline over matters of ‘integrity’, which they say is of most importance to the party.
But where is the integrity and where is the procedure of natural justice when an individual is asked to a hearing without informing them what these matters of ‘integrity’ might be? For over a week Adeline has asked these questions without any reply.
There is already a strong suspicion for a long time that there have been those who have sought to ‘get this woman out’. Now this shambolic procedure just adds to those fears that there is a ‘witch hunt’ against her.
I don’t know whether or not Adeline lacks the integrity to represent the Labour Party, but if there are serious questions to answer have the decency to let her know right now what those accusations are and allow her to come a meeting with her own representative so she can defend both her character and integrity.
Surely that’s just plain fair!
