Prince rails against racism towards girlfriend
The Sky News presenter Afua Hirsch wrote a piece in the Guardian last week highlighting the not so subtle negative racial reporting of Prince Harry’s new girlfriend Meghan Markhle.
Anybody would have thought that Hirsch herself had committed a most dreadful crime by highlighting what was obvious to many people. The vitriol and rampant denial she received on the comments were almost as nauseating as the comments directed towards Harry’s girlfriend. Most comments Hirsh received vociferously denied the fact of any racial undertones in the media’s reporting, whilst that people such as Hirsch see racism where there isn't none.
Now, in an almost unprecedented intervention from Kensington Palace. Prince Harry has not only publically stated that Markle is his girlfriend, adding that he is appalled by the racism and sexism that she is being subject too.
In a letter made public by Kensington Palace a spokesperson for the Prince states he feels for his 'girlfriends safety'. The letters states :
"Smears on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces, and the outright sexism and racism from website trolls."
This is the first time any member of the Royal family has publically acknowledged dating a mixed heritage partner. So all credit to Prince Harry for that along with protecting his girlfriend, and for forcibly calling the racism and sexism out in such a public way.
Prince Harry hasn’t always got things right in his personal life, but this unprecedented intervention clearly demonstrates a growing maturity with the young Prince.
The tragedy is that this relationship is but a few months old, imagine for a second what ‘dogs of hell’ would be unleashed if the Prince decided to marry Meghan Markhle.
