Entrepreneur Rami Ranger has won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise for a fifth time. The self-made millionaire had previously won the award in the four consecutive years leading up to 2012. Prime Minister, David Cameron visited Rami after his latest success, to show support for his achievements. Speaking to the Eastern Eye Rami said:

Normally people have to go to the prime minister for an award, but for the prime minister to come and present this award to me was surreal… He gave me a wonderful speech and paid tribute to me”.

He continued:

He said I was a great ambassador for my community and he wanted more people like me in society. All my family and staff were there, and he shook hands with everyone, including the cleaners”.

Rami started his first business in 1987 with just £2 capital from a shed with the aim to ship cargo by sea, air and land. Now, the company has grown into an international corporation. But Rami also has other interests. He is also the Chairman of SunMark Ltd which provides and distributes famous supermarket products all over the world. Both of these companies combined total income is in excess of £150m and this is testament to the effort Rami has given. He added:

I just try to serve the people and try and give back to society where I took so much from”

The Pakistani-born businessman is said to be happy at his latest triumph. The Queen’s Award for Enterprise is one of the most prestigious accolades for business and individuals in the United Kingdom. A total of 862 businesses applied and 209 awards were granted. Winners receive a range of benefits including worldwide recognition and extensive press coverage. Each award is valid for five years and winners are invited to a reception with The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

OBV’s Director Simon Woolley stated:

It’s great to see this man honoured by the nation's Prime Minister. This man has been great for UK PLC, for his charitable causes , and a good friend to OBV. I now hope the PM awards him a Knighthood. Sir Rami Ranger, we like that.”

Rami is grateful for the opportunities he has been afforded and hopes that he can continue to be successful.
