Riot from Wrong documentary set for premiere
A documentary which looks at the underlying reasons behind the riots in August and the lessons that can be learnt from them is to be screened this week.
Riot From Wrong is an hour-long film made by Fully Focused production’s youth steering group. The project has been a four-month long project which included 45 hours of footage, 60 interviews with a variety of people across the country and more than 200 hours of editing.
The aim of the film is simply to provide a voice for the voices we do not often hear in mainstream media coverage, whilst striving to maintain a balance. It features interviews with young people, older people, politicians, journalists, family and friends of Mark Duggan, who was fatally shot by Police officers prior to the initial disturbances in Tottenham. Also featured in the film are community activists, youth workers, the Met Police, rioters, victims. The film also includes first-hand footage and bespoke graphics and animation.
Riot From Wrong, according to Fully Focused Production's Nick Bedu gives young people and many other people from all walks of life, affected by the riots, a chance to express their views openly in the film.
As well searching for solutions, the youth-led documentary highlights some of the many positive contributions young people across England make to society and the inevitable fact that they are indeed, the future.
The film will be premiering at the Riverside Studio in Hammersmith on Friday 16th December.
