Suarez: 'A disgrace to Liverpool football'
An incensed Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said that Liverpool's Luis Suarez could have caused a riot by refusing to shake hands with the man he repeatedly racially abused during their last encounter.
In an already very tense and contentious football cauldron, Manchester United captain Patrice Evra tried to take some heat out of the situation by shaking hands with Suarez at the start of today's game. Suarez refused, Evra pulled his arm to insist but Suarez pulled away. In a show of solidarity Rio Ferdinand who's brother is also embroiled in a race row with John Terry, declined to shake Suarez's hand.
An already bad situation was made infinitely worse. After the game the Manchester United manager said he couldn't believe it, branding Suarez a ' disgrace to Liverpool football club'. Clearly very upset, he continued ,'he should never play for Liverpool again'.
With more than 20% of all premiership players classed as Black, English football is in a crisis. Fabio Capello the former England manager found himself in an untenable position after publicly denouncing the FA's decision to strip John Terry of the captaincy whilst he fights to clear charges of racial abuse.
Today's incident at Old Trafford will only make the situation much worse.
Liverpool's Luis Suarez has shamed himself, Liverpool FC and the game itself.
