Thank you to OBV's volunteers
Imagine this. A young woman, who lives in Birmingham responded to OBV's call for volunteers. At her own expense Shanade has spent the last two weeks volunteering for OBV, and doing just about everything. Shanade is passionate about equality, particularly when it comes to race.
Some time soon she would like to be a journalist, so straight away we encouraged her to write about something she was interested in. After writing about the short-comings of Black history month- her view is why isn't it every month-she received a huge response, which we hope will have boosted her confidence as a writer.
But as a good volunteer, everything we have asked her to do - from stuffing envelopes to helping organise an empowerment meeting, Shanade, like all volunteers at OBV, did so with enthusiasm and endeavour.
This weekend Shanade returns to Birmingham after her two-week stint. We hope she has enjoyed the experience. We truly want to thank her for giving to us, the community, and the cause for race equality. Look out for her name - Shanade Johnson - I'm sure, some time real soon you'll be reading her articles in a national paper.
Above all thank you to all our volunteers who make OBV the special organisation it is.
