Three candidates blazing the trail! - Gallery 16
Azzees Minott, Green Party Candidate, Warwick and Leamington
Azzees, an International Relations and Politics graduate, left university feeling that the three major parties did not represent her as a young black female. She was also concerned at rising rail fares and tuition fees, dwindling accessibility to university and bleak employment prospects.
Since working with the local Green Party and living in Leamington she believes that the Green Party is the only political party that offers a real alternative to what she calls ‘the current profit-driven system’.
The Green Party, according to Azzees, “presents the possibility of a community-based way of life that cares for the individual and the environment. It is the party that chooses morality over profit, the many rather than the few.”

Ranil Jayawardena, Conservative Party Candidate, North East Hampshire
Ranil has served as a local councillor since 2008 and is Deputy Leader of Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, responsible for the Council’s strategy and Chairman of the Community Safety Partnership.
He gained his degree from the London School of Economics, and his commercial background is in financial services, giving him a useful insight into economic issues.
Ranil says: “I’m honoured to be the Conservative Candidate for North East Hampshire. I grew up here, live here and care passionately about our area. With the support of local residents,I’ll seek to make our corner of Hampshire even better.”
