Tower Hamlets: Mayoral Candidates Husting
Operation Black Vote in a unique collaboration with Channel S and the support of the London Empowerment Partnership brings you the first and only televised hustings: Who Runs Tower Hamlets? You Decide!
This evening some of the mayoral candidates - the most powerful elected executive in Tower Hamlets including John Griffiths,Lib Dems; Neil King,Conservative; Helal Abbas, Labour and Luftar Rahman, Independent will put their pitch over the airwaves to Tower Hamlet residents.
There will also be a chance for the live audience and viewers to put their questions on issues from education and employment to waste collection and housing.
The race has been a rollercoaster since Tower Hamlets voters overwhelmingly said ‘Yes’ in the referendum last May to have an elected Mayor.
But from the outset, the contest has seen candidates excluded, reinstated, dropped, imposed and threatened to run as independents.
Whoever wins will have to cast childishness and competition aside and bring Tower Hamlets residents together over the next four years. Here's an opportunity to see who might best be able to do that.
You can watch live here this evening and get a round-up of the event tomorrow here on the OBV website.
