Warsi optimistic about Pakistan
Whilst the war of words continues between Pakistan and the USA over the killing of Osama Bin Ladin, here in the UK senior Government Ministers recognize it’s not only global security that binds our nations together, but also economic growth.
Cabinet Minister Baroness Sayeeda Warsi confirmed that the UK would champion Pakistani’s challenge to access European Union markets.
In a interview with The News-see link below- Warsi pledged the UK Government would, ‘ increase the value of trade in goods and services to £2.5 billion a year by 2115’. Warsi and her Government have clearly been ‘number crunching’ and see this rising economy not as a ‘troublesome Muslim State’, but an economic and political ‘ strategic’ partner.
With a purchasing power of 460 billion pounds set to rise with its growing and young population Pakistan is now being viewed alongside China and its near neighbors India. Baroness Warsi who is of Pakistani origin see’s the UK with its historic and present connections with this growing state uniquely placed to further those special relationships that become mutually beneficial.
Don’t be fooled then by the idea that Pakistan is a rogue state that the Western world tolerates with contempt. Pakistan has its challenges with extreme elements who use global Islamic injustices to justify their brand of terror, but countries such as the UK and others clearly see the vast possibilities of this nation being able to fulfil its economic potential.
UK Investment in schools and other social areas will ultimately pay dividends for British economic interests too.
