Lord Adonis racist tweet: Will the Labour Party expel?
The cartoon re-tweeted by Labour veteran Lord Adonis racially mocking the new Home Secretary Sajid Javid as a ‘cocunut’ who would send home his Pakistani parents because of his new political role , is not only below the standard of a prominent peer, but it is deeply racist and of course extremely offensive.
The question now is, will the Labour expel Adonis for an offensive act that appears much worse than the rude remark Marc Wadsworth made towards Ruth Speeth MP.
My own feeling is that Adonis should not be expelled. It’s clear that he recognised the offense caused and has quickly apologised, but the Labour party cannot have one rule for one member and another for others.
