Operation Black Vote (OBV) is a globally recognised independent charity founded on our strong ethical commitment to build a better future for Black and Minority communities. Our values form the basis of everything we do, by taking the bold step to enter the political space to tackle structural and institutional racism. In doing so, we recognise the power of the Black vote and actively promote inclusive democracy to reconnect and inspire minority communities to claim their place in Britain democracy.
About the role
This is an exciting time to join OBV, with the upcoming elections, there is much to be done to galvanise our communities and inspire them through targeted campaigns to have their voice heard. This role is pivotal to ensuring we work with communities to raise awareness and inspire work with partners to increase the voting number among African, Caribbean, and Asian heritage communities to encourage them to vote. The successful candidate will lead on this influential area of work, by managing targeted voter registration campaigns to increase voter registrations across the UK.
About you
If you are someone who has a passion and understanding of the importance of reaching out to communities to raise awareness and inspire people to have their voice heard through democratic mechanisms, this will be an ideal role. You will have the opportunity to use your strong background to galvanise support from partners to develop and mobilise political campaigns across the UK. You will have the autonomy to use your strong project management skills to ensure campaigns run smoothly on time and deliver the required outcomes.
Why Join OBV
By joining us at OBV, you will become part of the wider agenda to make a tangible difference to empower African, Caribbean, and Asian heritage communities and will be part of a historical campaign aiming to reshape the UKs democratic landscape. No two days will be the same, there will be days where you will work remotely to develop campaign strategies and times when you be on the campaign trail engaging with our diverse and vibrant communities across the country. You will work with a committed dynamic team working who will value and respect your expertise to deliver on this critical agenda. You will have the ability to work flexibly but will also travel to locations to lead on campaigns (expenses will be paid in addition to salary).
Your invaluable contribution will set the foundation for you to continue working in a nationally and globally recognised field with a maker on the significant contribution you have made to empower African, Caribbean and Asian heritage communities. Please contact Shaniya Patel by email - shaniya.patel@obv.org.uk to receive an information pack which includes details on how to apply.
Closing Date: 10th March 2024
