This Tuesday saw the reading of the counter terroism and sentencing bill raise familiar concerns regarding monitoring and the potential for discrimination as the bill underwent its third reading in the house. The reading included contributions from Dianne Abbot, David Lammy, Chris Phillip and Joanna Cherry among others as MPs discussed potential amendments to the bill on it’s final reading in the Commons.

RunRepeat’s new report made in association with the PFA sheds further light on an oft revisited topic.

A new report by Danish research body RunRepeat suggests that racial bias is evident in football commentary. The study found that players with darker skin were “significantly more likely to be reduced to their physical characteristics or athletic abilities -- namely pace and power -- than players with lighter skin tone players were.”

Last month, Tommy Robinson, the Ex-Leader of the English Defence League was permanently banned from the social media platform Twitter. To those that have been fighting to reform stop and searches and policing practices that value personal face-value judgment above a standard practice, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) report for 2016/2017 finding that white people are more likely to be carrying drugs than black people when stopped and searched, is not surprising.
