University race equality challenge: C-

You can get a snapshot of just how poor UK universities are at tackling race inequality within their institutions when 30 universities took up the challenge and only 8 received a bronze, with 9 universities not even completing the challenge. The latter 9 is comparable to a student either being thrown out or not taking the exams.

Flawed thinking around Kids Company

It's worth looking more closely at the closure of Kids Company.

Until very recently, this was a charity given plaudits and considerable sums of money from the government, commercial organisations, private donors and grant giving trusts and foundations.

Its charismatic founder and director, Camila Batmanghelidjh, was rarely out of the limelight, stressing the good work her charity did in helping disadvantage children. Even Prime Minister David Cameron was said to have been mesmerised by her, and until recently was only too happy to endorse her approach.

Teacher forgives race hate stabbing

Bradford School teacher Vincent Uzomah informed the waiting media outside the courthouse that because he was a committed Christian he would forgive the young man who might have ended his life in a racially motivated stabbing in his classroom.

I prayed to God that this boy would realise that violence is no path to take and that He would help him rather to become a useful member of society.”

The young man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced to an 11 years.

The Southern African Community

I was humbled and honoured to have been nominated for the African Women in Europe Awards in Geneva because of my work with the Southern African Community (SAC) and also receiving the certificate for my work with Southern African and Ethnic Minority Communities. I co-founded the SAC in 2014 and this was mainly because the Southern African Region and its people are relatively unknown in the United Kingdom. My vision was to promote the Southern African identity in the United Kingdom, and also highlight the positive contribution they have made in the United Kingdom.

Cameron/Hammond: Stop demonising African migrants

'African migrants a threat to our way of life' was the headline screaming from the front page of the Metro. It was the most depressing front page I’ve seen for a long time. The Metro, like many other papers, had picked up the comments made by Defence Minister, Phillip Hammond, whilst speaking abroad. Another comment Hammond used whilst describing migrants was 'marauding Africans'.
