I’m glad Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson has finally come to his senses and apologised for using the ‘n’ word during filming of the BBC programme.

"I'm sitting here begging your forgiveness",  he said as a part of a full apology

I know we suspect he got dragged kicking and screaming to the table of remorse, but he said it. And for Clarkson, who has made his name being an anti-hero, it was pretty grovelling apology too.

The Real Face of Ukip?

Over the last few days, news has emerged about three of Ukip’s candidates publicly making racist and disparaging remarks about BME individuals, Islam and immigration. The party has been trying to disassociate itself from these members by announcing the resignation of one of the individuals and the suspension of another, expressing apologies, and emphasising that the views of these members are not the views of the party.

Ratna Lachman, Director of JUST West Yorkshire has brilliantly pooled together an unprecedented series of statements directed to the nation's first Black Secretary of State Sajid Javid, who has, as part of his portfolio the Equality brief.

One would hope that having read the statements, the Secretary of State would convene a meeting with a number of delegates on how he and his Government can better deliver race equality. Watch this space.

Home Secretary announces big changes.

The Home Secretary Theresa May, spelt out in the House of Commons today a ‘comprehensive package’ that should fundamentally change the way ‘Stop and Search’ is delivered in England and Wales.

Presenting her case to the Parliament the Home Secretary stated:

Nobody wins when stop and search is misapplied. It is a waste of police time. It is unfair, especially to young black men. It is bad for public confidence in the police.
