Dear Lambeth Labour Councillors

As many of you are aware, there has been a great deal of concern about local Party procedure after the democratic election of Adeline Aina to fight the Larkhall ward.

Local party bosses want to question Adeline over matters of ‘integrity’, which they say is of most importance to the party.

Kacey Akpoteni: Making a lasting legacy

The West Midlands Civic Leadership Programme was put together by Operation Black Vote funded by the Barrow Cadbury Trust to help tackle the under-representation of BME individuals in civic and pubic life. Launched earlier this year, it has also aimed to demystify some of the activities and functions of public institutions. in

On 3rd July, members of the Local Labour party in Lambeth made history by democratically electing three Black women to be their prospective candidates in the Larkhall ward.

One would have thought that Local party bosses would have been ecstatic with the news. After all never before has three Black candidates been elected to stand in one ward much less three Black women.

Far Right Terrorism barely makes the news

in

The fact that two Ukrainian men have been arrested for a failed terrorist attack on a Mosque in Small Heath, Birmingham, and that one of men has now been arrested for the racist murder of Mohammed Saleem has barely made the headlines. Worse still, the silence from many senior politicians has been deafening.

Speech at the UN

And even now as Mr. Mandela enters into what might well be the evening of his years with the sun soon setting just beyond the reach of his most loftiest achievements, he is again summoning the attention of the world as he beckons us to be mindful of the fragility of life

For let us never forget that it is because of the life and personal sacrifice of Mr. Mandela that South Africa is a different nation today.
