Chamali Fernando, Conservative candidate for Cambridge City

Chamali is a qualified barrister here and in New York. She is an extremely strong candidate who wants Cambridge to become a leading global benchmark for a greener, fairer and more sustainable world. Her other priorities are to improve the quality of life and to create employment opportunities. Undoubtedly Chamali is a considerable asset to her party and, if elected, to Cambridge where she has lived for 16 years.

About time our democracy went online

This is the business end of the year for Operation Black Vote. We've been working hard on ensuring all communities are registered to vote with particular emphasis on Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities. We travelled the length and breadth of the country engaging in thousands of conversations with members of the public on the issue of registering to vote and politics more generally.

Frankie Boyle’s master class in white supremacy

I’ve not always agreed with the satire of Frankie Boyle, particularly when it has been focused on those who are least likely to defend themselves, such as his attack on Katie Price’s disabled son. It literally takes less than 3 minutes to register to vote, but by doing so you make a declaration that you demand to be listened to.

The deadline is midnight  20th April

In the tightest of elections a few hundred votes here and there will not only decide the fate of some constituencies, it may decide the outcome of who has the keys to Downing Street

400 Africans die at sea: Politics doesn’t matter?

in

Just a few short months ago the European Union, to which the UK is one of its most powerful members agreed to scale back critical resources that would aid desperate African migrants attempting to arrive in Europe in over crowded boats.

The EU in their wisdom concluded that  if they take away the rescue boats that save lives less people will try and make the often trechorous journey.
