Not registered to vote? Just hop on the bus!

A special bus is stopping in Nottingham next week to encourage more people to register to vote.

The bus, which is equipped with computers and internet access to enable anyone to register to vote there and then, will be in the Old Market Square on Tuesday 7 April; at the Asda car park in Hyson Green on the morning of 8 April and at the St Ann's Valley Centre on Livingstone Road in the afternoon.

OBV eXpress @ the Hammersmith Academy

The OBV eXpress bus stopped in the London borough of Hammersmith yesterday, spending the day at Hammersmith Academy. Teachers and pupils alike positively welcomed the OBV team and gave us the wonderful opportunity to engage with young citizens.

The morning consisted of students jumping on-and-off the bus, many of them gazing at the bus in sheer curiosity and splendour. We had students as young as 13 express interests in politics! We at the OBV team consider that as a positive sign of engagement from this upcoming generation.

Almost as soon as bus arrived at Waltham Forest College, the queues began: Hundreds of students came to the OBV eXpress to get registered to vote. The great success we had at the college was due in no small part because of the college staff, including Angela Buknor, Bal Phlora, Antoinette Beekya, and the Principal Penny Wycherley.

TILN Brussels 2015: Conveyor belt for success

For a few moments I felt that I’d made a monumental mistake: How could I abandon, even for just three days, the biggest political campaign in OBV’s 20 year history, to go off to Brussels and help train some young politicians?

The OBV eXpress bus tour was barely half way through its journey of targeting 1 million Black people to register to vote and vote in the 2015 general election.

To some it would seem like the captain of the football team had just walked off the  field half way through the match.

"Mark Duggan was shot dead in the street like a dog. He was executed by the Trident Police Command "

That is the strongly held belief of the majority of Black people, the wider community and the family of Mark Duggan.
