Community Empowerment Roadshows
Is community improvement your passion?
We are coming to your city! OBV and BASSAC (British Association of Settlements and Social Action Centres) will be running a brand new series of FREE seminars to increase Black and minority ethnic (BME) awareness and engagement in your local democratic process.
At the seminar you will explore your local council functions, look into the roles and responsibilities of a councillor and meet local councillors.
Delegates will also experience the decision-making process of allocating council resources and investigate options for their own active engagement in local issues. OBV and BASSAC encourage BME individuals who wish to help shape their community to attend this unique event.
The first seminar was held in BIRMINGHAM on Saturday 20th November 2010 Birmingham
Further seminars will be held in
- Tower Hamlets in London on Saturday 5th February 2011(11am – 3.30pm)
- Southwark in London on Saturday 12th February 2011(11am – 3.30pm)
