Jenni Steele wins Make a Difference Awards
OBV alumni Jenni Steele was honoured Monday night at the Make a Difference Awards, an event that recognises the huge contribution people make in Lewisham. Jenni was the overall winner for the Supporting Others Award, which awards individuals who give their time and support to mentor others.
Jenni, or ‘Supermum’ as she is known, is an inspiration to her community in Lewisham. Model, actress, fashion designer, and office manager are just some of her job titles. She took part in the Lewisham Civic Leadership Programme in 2009/10, and serves on the Safer Neighbourhood Panel, a committee that works with community officers to make their area safer.
The people of Lewisham nominated individuals for the Make a Difference Awards, and an independent panel of judges chose who best fit the categories. Jenni was one of three people nominated for the Supporting Others category.
Jenni Steele said: "This award is dedicated to everyone who has touched my life past & present. You have supported me with encouragement and kind words and I have supported others with the energy I receive time and time again."
Francine Fernandes, Head of Shadowing Schemes for Operation Black Vote said, "Operation Black Vote are delighted by the news of Jenni's award. She has used her skills selflessly to empower others and is an inspiration to all communities."
