Abena Oppong-Asare MP (Labour)


Abena Oppong-Asare is the Labour MP for Erith and Thamesmead, she was elected in the December 2019 General Election receiving 19,882 votes, which equaled a 48% majority. 

Of Ghanaian descent, Abena studied Politicals with International Relations at the University of Kent, where she also attained a Master's degree in International Law with International Relations. Abena served as a Labour councillor for Erith ward on Bexley council from 2014 - 2018, serving as Deputy Leader of the Opposition Labour Group. She has also worked as a parliamentary assistant and constituency liason officer, she also advised the shadow minister for Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls.
