Bim Afolami (Conservative)
Bim Afolami is the Conservative MP for Hitchin and Harpenden and was first elected in the June 2017. In the December 2019 General Election, Afolami retained his seat with 27,719 votes, which equaled 47.1% of the vote share.
Bim was born in Crowthorne, Berkshire in 1986 and studied at Eton College and Oxford University, where he studied modern history, was Vice President of the Oxford Union, and played football for the University.
After he graduated, Bim served as a political adviser at the House of Commons, before spending ten years in the City advising some of the biggest companies in the world, both British and international – first as a corporate lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, then as a Senior Executive at HSBC.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Ditchley Foundation. He has also served as a primary school governor for several years.
Bim is happily married with two sons, and is passionate about the need to ensure that everyone has access to a fantastic education and greater opportunities.
